Why Choose Timber Windows
There are advantages of installing timber windows over Upvc windows – A price comparison over the initial costs would suggest that buying upvc is a lot cheaper but does not take into account the overall performance throughout the windows lifetime. Recent studies suggest that the performance of the timber windows over time far out perform the upvc window – Why? A well maintained timber window will last over 25 years – upvc can fail within 10 years! Timber is a better insulator and as long as the frames and sashes are protected with quality paint or stain products, the windows are given a renewed look every 8-10 years. If the upvc window fails – you have to replace it.

Maintenance Advice on your New Timber Windows
All your external wooden windows and doors should be washed down with a mild solution of soapy water at least twice a year and then rinsed with clean water to remove any surface debris. If you live near the sea or in an industrial area you need to increase this frequency of cleaning. All mechanical parts such as hinges, handles or running gear should be oiled with grease or neutral oil. Check your weather seals for any damage and ensure they are also cleaned. Don’t forget to checl and clean any trickle vents on your doors and windows. If you do notice any surface wear and tear then touch up with matching microporous paint after a light sanding of the affected area. Remember – do not attempt to paint when the temperature falls below 8°C or in direct sunlight as this impairs the curing process.
