Jeld-wen Door Styles
Standard Core doors- A hollow core door weighing 13kg with a lock block to one side of the door for lock or latch. Perfect for most domestic situations.
Middleweight doors – A semi solid core gives these doors a more substantial feel to them. Weighing around 15kg. These internal doors however give more options when it comes to fixing ironmongery.
Heavyweight doors – A solid core gives these doors a substantial feel and helps reduce sound transmission. Your ironmongery can be fixed anywhere across the face of the door.
FD30 Fire Doors 44mm – Manufactured to fit a standard rebated 44mm frame. These fire doors weigh almost 35kg. Therefore your ironmongery can be fitted anywhere across the face of the door. Make sure the ironmongery is CE marked and fire rated.
Jeld-wen Interior Doors
Jeld-wen recommends that all standard doors be hung with the use of 2 x 3″ hinges(2 x 76mm), unless the weight of the door is more than 20kg. Therefore, if you are hanging a door where there are likely to be changes in humidity. Therefore please use 3 hinges for all weights of doors.
In addition, all the doors are marked with the area for the lock block. Usually 900mm from the bottom of the door. This area gives you 160mm either side of this measurement hence gives you adequate space to fit the handles and locks. The actual block measures 320mm x 55mm wide.
Therefore, please remember to use the correct tools and don’t use high speed or auger drill bits. Additionally, please use the correct size wood drill bits!
