Moulded Door Technical Information
Standard Core – A Hollowcore door weighing 13kg with a lock block to one side of the door for lock or latch fixing. Perfect for most domestic situations.
Middleweight – A semi solid core gives these doors a more substantial feel to them. weighing around 15kg, these doors give more options when it comes to fixing ironmongery.
Heavyweight – A solid core gives these doors a substantial feel and helps reduce sound transmission. Your ironmongery can be fixed anywhere across the face of the door.
FD30 Fire Doors 44mm – Manufactured to fit a standard rebated 44mm frame, these fire doors weigh 35kg. Your ironmongery can be fitted anywhere across the face – Make sure the ironmongery is CE marked and fire rated.
Jeld-wen recommends that all standard doors can be hung with the use of 2 x 3″ hinges (2 x 76mm) unless the weight of the door is more than 20kg. If you hanging a door where there are likely to be changes in humidty – Bathroom, Shower room or Kitchen – Please use 3 hinges for all weights of doors.
All the doors are marked with the area for the lock block, usually 900mm from the bottom of the door. This area gives you 160mm either side of this measurement to give you adequate space to fit the handles and locks. The actual block measures 320mm x 55mm wide.
Please remember to use the correct tools – Don’t use high speed or auger drill bits – Use the correct size wood drill bits!
Fire Door Installation
Please remember that fire doors are there for your safety and require all the necessary approved hardware – handles, locks, hinges, latches and the intumescent or smoke seals. Make sure all your ironmongery is CE marked, otherwise the door cannot be certified. Please ensure you follow all the instructions carefully as some doors are manufactured differently.
